A doll from art

A while back I had a special project, I turned this little artist drawing into a doll.
I cant remember how I found Becky’s blog, but I can remember the first post I read, it was about art.
From there, I have a fondness of hoping over and seeing her Little Wickies. I had the best surprise at Christmas time when I received a Christmas card from her, which is still on our fridge.

I tried my best to keep the doll as close to her drawing as possible. It was important to me that I keep it as close as possible because it can be encouraging to a young artist to treat their work as original.

The one change I did make was to the body, it isn’t quite as round as her picture, but as I have had a year or so of trail and error in doll making, I knew I would be able to make the body I had used before.

Little ones don’t see the world the way we do, just yet. They are much more free in their creations and keeping their art as they see it can build confidence and help encourage imagination. Imagination and creativity are where big ideas are made.
