A New Year

I don’t really set new year resolutions, but I do set goals to things I would like to achieve. I do this all year long though, not just at the beginning of the new year.

Most of my goals this year are rather like improvements, which I always have room for and the need for in many areas of my life.

I have been wanting to blog about this book since I started reading it. It is BY FAR the best blog book I have read. I think it helps that the author/blogger is also a writer, so it’ a breeze to pass through and it doesn’t leave you thinking, well, i should have just read the blog.

Most things in the book, I found that I already know or have or wish I had in practice. The one that stands out the most to me, was the 6 second hug.It works, don’t think so, give a try, you will be surprised.

The other thing I liked was the part about not gossiping. I think that most people would agree one label I don’t fit under is a gossip.
page 156: “spontaneous trait transference -where people unintentionally transfer to me the traits I ascribe to to other people. ” In short you become the negative words you speak in that persons mind.

The thing I do need to work on is being judgemental, I grew up with a different set of standards than I have been exposed to since moving here. It’s been a bumpy road but I have learned in some situations its best to let people be, and just lead by example. Even better would be to just try not to judge people at all.

If you are looking for a good read and lead into the new year, I suggest this book.

The one new goal I have for the new year is no new clothes which I will have more on this later.

The ever on going goal I have is time management. Other than things other people worry about (better diet , more exercise) I also hope to study my Bible like I use to.

If you are wondering where are my goals for my family life , that’s where I actually feel my strongest points are, my kids are always number one on my list. Not that I don’t need to improve on parenting skills but in my lack of time management, they are the one thing I always make time for.

I hope you have a wonderful 2011 with all the happiness you can find.

God Bless

Kellie

great post – looks like a worthy book. I'm interested to learn more about your "no new clothes" pledge, although I have to be honest, it sounds a bit scary to me!

Happy New Year!
