Apple the Owl for the Toy Society

Meet Apple the owl.

She likes seeds and playing on Granville Island.

I was feeling fall-ish (the colors) and back to school-ish (the apple). This lovely stuffie is for the The Toy Society. If you haven’t heard of them yet, check them out, it’s a place just for giving.

This is something I have been wanting to do for a while. My son watched me make the owl, and we talked about how some kid would find it and hopefully report back to the Toy Society website, to let us know Apple had found a home.
We dropped her off at around 2:15 on Granville Island.
Later, after some time at the Kids Market,we checked on her, she was still there. My son said, “well that is sad”. Awww, I thought, I said , “son , its not sad. She will be found.”

One thing I have learned as an artist, not everyone wants or likes what you make. ha ha (For a little one this is hard to understand)
About 3:30, our owl was gone.
As I lay in bed with my son , reading to him while he got ready for a late nap, he stopped me and said “Mom, I’m so proud someone took our owl”. My heart melted, I love that sweet guy, and I felt like an awesome mom, because I had taught him the art of giving and also I made him feel proud. Well done Toy Society!!

Well done! I'm a Toy Society dropper too and get so much pleasure from participating. Good lesson for your kidling. Keep it up.
