I love my class of little artists. I saw this little kaleidoscope and was instantly inspired. I bought for my classes. I chose the humming bird, probably my most favorite bird. It’s fast, it’s quite, it can hover and it can fly backwards, amazing!!

For the question of the day , I asked what their favorite bird was (or color) Red Robbins were very popular, and Blue Jays.

What smarts students 4 and 5 year olds are.

Each student got to pass around the kaleidoscope and take a look, I had also purchased a set of birds we used as inspiration as well.

Birds can be a little intimating for little ones, so we talked about starting with an oval body, a circle head, and a triangle to the tail. Then we worked on the feathers and so forth.

After we chose our bird, we then recalled the kaleidoscope and added in our own shapes , and finished off with water color.

I have 15 students, usually we have no more than 11, but I can’t say no to such good artist that inspire me to no end. I have a great class.

I hope you have a great weekend.

Awwww, I LOVE that you had a bird lesson in your class! Humminbirds really are amazing. They are so entertaining to watch at the feeders. Also, where did you find the kaleidoscope?
