Artful Friday – The Olympics

I haven’t mentioned it on my blog, but the Olympics are coming in just about a week. Yes, Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Olympics.

The whole town is changing, and you can see the Olympics signs everywhere. So I decide to see my students perspective.

Question of the day: What are you most looking forward to with the Olympics here?

The most common answer was “I want to see ice skating”. “One student said “I like finger skating”. ha ha

We talked about what sports take place where (ex: snowboarding in the mountains), we talked about Vancouver as a map and where Stanly Park was located, and the city.

Materials used: markers and oil pastels.

I love it when the students use their whole body to get into their art, I also enjoy it when they sing while working.

The student also liked to include the Olympic Mascots: Miga, Quatchi and Sumi. The mascots were created by Meomi Designs, a very talented Vancouver based artist. You might know her form the Octonauts.

Have a great weekend.
