Books that come to life

We have done many, many projects based off our beloved book The Very Hungry Caterpillar , we just love Eric Carle. We got a chance to see his books come to life through a series of beautiful plays. Actually beautiful doesn’t even do it justice. My older son had been to see the play before with Dad, Grandma and Grandpa. I had to stay behind with the littlest one.

This time I was able to go and have a great day with my two oldest babies, which are quickly turning into big boys. It was such a great day and it felt good to get out of the house with just the two.

I truly enjoy that my children love to read and get excited by literature and art.

If Eric Carle plays come to your town, we highly recommend going to see it. Otherwise visit the Carousel Theater site for more info on great children’s plays.

Baby Number 4 is so close to being here. This is how I have been nesting.

New bibs, plus some for friends little ones.

A fresh bright spring colored hat.

A new little blanket. If you have ever seen a beautiful quilt, but thought it was too expensive, then I suggest making one. It will let you know that the price was actually very deserving of the beauty. I make small simple quilts and have yet to feel perfection at the end. ha ha Still, my hopes is that it’s passed on. This is the first one I made for little #3.

A sneak peak at what I hope to have done by Monday.

and this isn’t for the newest one…but a little something I finally finished. I guess as part of my nesting I was wanting to finish up a lot of things I had started. This Yeti was one my oldest and I had started in December, he is quite loved. It was fun to work with some new ideas and materials, but I am not in a big rush to get back to that white faux fur. It was a little on the messy side for me.

I had an extraordinary opportunity to combine two things I love. I had a chance to work with a wonderful book author who’s books you might recognize.

I got to create a doll for Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s new book Plant a Kiss. The images below were sent to me by Amy , seen with her are Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds and Little Miss made by me.

It was such an honouring experience for me. We received a bunch of books from Amy, which included Plant a Kiss.

She even signed them, and I had only told her my children’s names, and she left really sweet messages to them. They were so excited and we treasure the books.
