Forest Friends Birthday

My little love turned one today. What an amazing addition he has made to our lives. He is full of smiles and laughs. His smile alone could light up North America, at least.

He is also a big round rolly polly baby with lots of chub to love, and with his gentle spirit, I call him my baby bear. So it was all fitting to have a forest theme party for his first big day.

For the cake, I bought these and these from Bake it Pretty.

While I was there, I also bought these, they were just too cute to pass up. We had fun making cookies. The food coloring was neon, so the trees look yellow but they were suppose to be closer to bright green.

The giveaways were all made by me with creative help from my oldest. Where did I get the patterns you ask? The raccoon and owl came from animal silhouettes I had seen in an Amiee Ray’s book, Doodle Stitching. You can find free ones from here, so many to choose from. I used some of the ones from
Here and Here.

I printed out the shapes of animals I liked onto card stock. I then drew what I wanted them too look like. The raccoon, fox, and skunk are all the same animal silhouette.

I just changed the colors and added bits and pieces to make them look different.

The rabbit looks like a chocolate rabbit from Easter, doesn’t it? The frog was my lovely husbands choice but he ended up liking the grey raccoon best.

Since the grey raccoon got thumbs up, I made its way on to shirts for the birthday. Yes, occasionally I dress my kids alike. he he

We also gave away a cd, yes, I know, a bit much. Hey, the first birthday only happens once though.

Here was our forest cd play list:

Go, go, go -The Backyardigans
I met a bear- Barenaked Ladies
Rainbow Connection- The Dixie Chicks
Wild, wild party in the loquat tree- Indigo Girls
Raisins – Barenaked Ladies
Falling off a log- Backyardigans
Poly wog in a bog- Barenaked ladies
Catch the moon – Lisa Loeb
Somewhere over the Rainbow – Jewel
Paper Moon- Fiona Apple and Maude Maggart
God Speed- Dixie Chicks

Three more days until my giveaway ends.

I came over from whip up. What adorable softies!! I'm not sure what to give away for my daughter's upcoming first birthday. We have a huge age range of kids (she's the youngest cousin) and I don't want to give away, well, junk. I was thinking of some sort of craft project the kids could do, then take home. I love your softies!! Wondering if I could turn it into a "make and take" project…

Happy birthday – you sure have been busy! And thanks for the Red Riding Hood offer – I really do love the look of them. And, as I know nothing about screen printing I'm in awe of the results. They look great!

Love the stuffed toys. If you don't mind, which font did you find the raccoon/skunk/fox shape? My son's preschool class is reading The Kissing Hand and the main character is a raccoon. I would love to make a few little raccoons for the class.

There's a skunk? Man, I didn't see that one! Would've got that one for sure!! But the boys are quite happy with the fox and racoon. I think Tannor hid his racoon b/c I can't find it now…lol. I saw him talking to it the other day. Love them girl! So talented you are!

These are stunning. I have to agree with hubby about the racoon and he should be called Bandit I reckon… because of his mask 😀 I'm so glad that Craft Gossip featured your site today otherwise I may never have stumbled upon your blog – I can see me losing a good few hours on here later this evening going back through your posts 🙂

They're so cute all piled together!

I think the owl and raccoon patterns are from Aimee Ray's Doodle-Stitching book for anyone looking for those silhouettes. 🙂

Yes, the idea did come from the raccoon and owl from the Amiee Ray book. I wanted to make more so I used these free fonts.
