gung hay fat choy

Since I have been at Arts Umbrella, I have celebrated my first Chinese New Year. I was given my first red envelope a few years back, I didn’t really know that much about it, but felt very honored. Since, I make sure to celebrate with my students, Chinese or not.

This year my son is learning about it at school, so we will hand out chocolate money to his class, and also in my art classes.

It a beautiful thing to be included in other cultures and to be able to celebrate with them.

This is an adorable painting. We enjoy celebrating Chinese New Year as well, but we moved from CA to NJ three years ago and it's definitely not the same here. I'm so glad that we took our two oldest girls to the New Year parade in San Francisco's Chinatown before we moved. It was so much fun.
