Handmade Holiday 2010

We have had an incredibly busy and enjoyable holiday season. Our Christmas was very special. Although we didn’t make to Texas as we hoped, we did have a great time with just our little troop.

Last year, I wanted all my gifts to be handmade, as I was in my first trimester with my third little one, you can guess, I didn’t quite make it.

This year I did a much better job, fell a little behind, but almost all my gifts were handmade , most by me.

That locket with the big rose was hard to give away.

I even went as far as to save some trees this year and forgo wrapping paper, so even my gift bags were sewn by me, most out of thrifted/vintage fabrics.

The above is a over sized cowl I had been wanting to make, as I don’t knit or crochet, I just had to wing it. I made one for myself too with a big red vintage button.

Even the kiddos got to get involved and hand stamp some bags with a cute stamp my son found at Paper Ya.

Some gifts were given to encourage hand making.

I was able to sew our tree skirt. We received some great gifts some hand made lovelies too.

One of the things I enjoyed most was taking my son to the thrift store to buy sleeping bags, which we handed out on a very cold cold night with some of these below.

My oldest enjoyed this, he wanted to find more people to give blankets too. We want to do this or something like this every Christmas, to teach them that its not about getting and doing, its also about giving.

We also enjoyed our yearly gingerbread man pancakes,

and I made a small turkey, you can see what dinner time looked like below.

This post is late as I had fallen behind on many things. I do hope your 2011 is full of hope and love.
