He is so clever

Since I have been sewing, my son has been wanting his own machine. This was his first drawing that I sewed for him. I was waiting until he was a little older and I felt more comfortable with his abilities to sew before I would get him a machine.

Then the hunt began, and it was all pink , or pink and flowers, or pink and Hello Kitty. We aren’t opposed to pink but its not a favorite around here. (even by me)
Finally I found a small starter for him. It was right before Christmas but I didn’t make him wait, we opened it right away. I was just as excited as he was.

He sketched his fist project, a monster, to which I wasn’t surprised. When we got to the end for him to stuff the opening, he stuck his hand inside and said “mom, couldn’t it be a puppet”? I said sure it could.

The above puppet became Igor.

So now he has started his own series of little monster puppets. He is so clever and creative, that boy of mine. The puppet below is The King of monsters, my two year old came along and scribbled over the original drawing but we had already sewn it by that time. Everyone enjoys drawing in our home.

Watch world, I have a creative and dashingly good looking boy that will one day be a man.

That's awesome! Katie got a Hello Kitty sewing kit for Xmas that I"m afraid to open (I don't know how to sew) — I think she's forgotten about it for now, but I intend to read the directions and then tackle making something with her very soon.

Oh! A kid after my own heart! I love that first puppet!
I hope he keeps that love of sewing and doesn't get "too cool" for it when he gets older and grows up to be a crafty man! Crafty men are the best! (I should know…I'm married to one) 😉
