Make your own city

This a little look at what we did over the weekend. Summer is coming soon, and this would be a great project to make with the littles.

The fabric can be found at Ikea.

We looked at all the houses and chose a few we wanted to make. We took some makers, I actually had fabric makers, but any makers would do, and colored our houses.

My son decided to draw himself and his brother looking out the windows. (see photo below, those two black circles..he he) That was with a regular old fine tip marker. (his idea)

My son had so much fun, he asked Dad to make one, and that would be the blue one.

I then just faced the fabric house and another fabric we chose for the back with right sides together, I turned the house side up so I could see it, and just sewed along the outline of the house leaving about an inch and a half opening. You then just turn the house inside out, stuff, and whip stitch the opening closed.

We are thinking of adding a car we drew next. I have also started embroidering on one of the houses. It’s such a fun fabric and so many playful ideas.

I like sharing the fun, so I am giving away one yard of the Ikea house fabric.

To enter, just leave me a comment about yourself. (you like sushi, your drool when you sleep, or a favorite project…anything really) I will announce the winner next Monday. ( May 10th)

Kellie

Oh what a fun project! I'm SO due a trip to Ikea – I'll have to look out for this one.

Hmmm. Something about me. I tried to make my friend a fairy baby out of Fimo today – she collects those really expensive lifelike baby dolls. I had no clue how long to 'cook' it, never used it before and only had a tiny amount.

My poor little Fimo baby was burned black and looked like a smoking poo by the time I finished, I felt so bad and guilty for it – it had looked so cute going in the oven πŸ™ *g*

What great fabric! There isn't an Ikea around here, darn it.
Something about me…I could have 10 cats, I think cats are lovely. But I love my husband, so I only get to have 2 cats.

Something about myself: I never tried sushi; don't like the idea of eating raw fish though everybody I know says it tastes great.

Hello,
Fab project! Do you know the name of the fabric? I can't find it on the Ikea UK website. Thanks.

Very cute fabric! I'll have to check the ikea near me. I've been wanting to do a sewing project with an elementary school class as an art project, and this might fit the bill.
