No ordinary balloon

My enthusiasm for perfectly huge balloons has leaked over to my sons.

I had this balloon I brought back from a photo shoot at one of the schools I teach at.
It’s been hanging around now and my Mr. Chubs has quite taken to it. It’s as if this books pages have come to life.

I got in bed with him for nap time and told him he had to let the balloon go so he could rest, he said, “no mommy, please?”. I had a choice to be an Arthurian parent here, but I chose to indulge my sweet man.

I thought to myself, life only happens once. I want him to feel the magic of childhood while he can. In this magic moment I hope I am teaching him to use his imagination, and dream big. Yes, all of that from one big red balloon.

(As soon as he fell asleep, I removed it from his hand.)

After big brother got home from school, we watched Le Balloon Rouge, a 1956 french film starring….a big red balloon.

(just a favorite part is where the balloon chases the mean school teacher.)

It’s amazing for the time it was made in and it kept my littles attention. After it was over they both said they loved it, Mr. Chubs said “again”. Not to spoil the movie, but the balloon doesn’t quite make it, and my oldest began to ask us why the balloon was destroyed because it made the boy sad. As he talked, he began to cry for the balloon, it was actually really sweet and makes me appreciate his sensitivity.

I totally understand that your boy loves the big red balloon! I would too! Have never seen such huge beautiful baloons … If I ever figure out where to get some like that here in Germany I want to do a photoshoot with my kids too … They are amazing!
The baloons. Well, my kids, too … of course … 😉

I finally followed te whole balloon thing up and found some sources where I could order big ones. Now I was wondering … the one in your photos, was it filled with air? Or does it have to be filled with helium? I know that small ballons do not float in the air like that if they are just blown up … am not sure if that is the same for big ones …

Would appreciate if you could help me out and drop me a line!
